The Den was home to Millwall for 83 years.
The stadium was one of, if not the, most intimidating grounds in English football.
The Den was situated in Cold Blow Lane, South East London. Not a place for the faint of heart visiting supporter.
One side of the ground was a seated stand that ran the length of the pitch, while on the opposite side was a large terraced with a roof that covered just the top-most parts. Another low roof covered a small section of the corner between this stand and the terrace behind the goal where the vociferous home supporters gathered. The corner later had a few seats installed.
Behind the goal was another large terrace with a roof that covered the top third.
At the opposite end was the terrace where the hardy away supporters stood, with plenty of segregation in between them and the home support. Just in case they were about to start feeling comfortable in these surroundings, there was barbed wire around the base of the floodlights and large knots of pointed steel at the top of the perimeter fencing. The roof covered about two-thirds of this terrace.
The last game at The Den saw Millwall defeat Brentford 1-0 on the 8th of May 1993.
The Den was demolished in 1993.
