Christie Park was home to Morecambe for 89 years.
The ground consisted of three covered stands and an uncovered terrace.
At one end was a shallow terrace with a roof on and this is where away fans were located. At the opposite end was a similar but larger covered terrace and this is where the more vocal home fans congregated.
The main stand covered about half of the pitch’s length with a small standing area on either side of it. Opposite this was an uncovered terrace running the length of the pitch.
The record attendance at Christie Park occurred on 6th January 1962. Weymouth were the visitors for an FA Cup tie which the away team won 0-1 in front of a crowd of 9,383.
The last game to be played at Christie Park was a huge game for the club in competitive terms as well as nostalgic reasons.
On the 20th of May 2010, Dagenham and Redbridge were the visitors for a League Two play-off semi-final second leg.
The visitors were pretty comfortable coming into the game, as they held a 6-0 lead from the first leg. Morecambe got back some of their pride with a 2-1 win on the day though, as they said farewell to Christie Park.
This was the highest finish in the club’s history up to that point.
The capacity at Christie Park at the time of its closure was 6,400.
Christie Park was demolished in 2010.
