Close to Home
Gateshead is just a forty-minute bus trip from home, so today was an easy Hop, and just as well!
Friday night into Saturday morning was not a happy time in the Hopper household.
Mrs Hopper has been suffering from a bad back for some while now. Last night, a particularly painful night for her, combined with random knee pain for me, meant there wasn’t a lot of sleep for us.
We had planned to arrive in Gateshead early enough for lunch at The Schooner. A pub just down the road from the stadium but that was never going to happen now.
With very little sleep and the pain not subsiding, I got up and made a hot water bottle to stick between my knee and her back… Yeah, it was as awkward as it sounds! 😂
After another hour, we gave up and both downed a painkiller apiece and finally got some shut-eye.
I eventually woke up at 11:30 and decided I wasn’t going to miss the game!
Dragging my sorry ass out of bed, I managed to limp around quickly enough to get out of the house in time to catch the bus and do a proper review of the Gateshead International Stadium.
